NEW DELHI: India Women scripted history with a commanding 270-run victory over England in the first-ever women’s Test at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground.
After posting 285 in the first innings, India seized control through Kranti Gaud, who claimed a sensational 5/37 to become the first woman to register a five-wicket haul at Lord’s. Her spell bowled England out for 170, giving the visitors a crucial 115-run lead.
India then tightened their grip on the match as wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia struck a brilliant 113 off 158 balls in the second innings. Her century helped the visitors declare at 341/7, setting England a daunting target of 457.
England failed to mount a successful chase as India completed a memorable 270-run triumph, marking a landmark moment in the history of women’s cricket.
