India push for victory after Jaiswal and Rahul blitz in Kanpur Test

Half-centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul powered India to a dominant position on day four of the rain-hit second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur. India declared their first innings at 285-9 off just 34.4 overs, forcing Bangladesh to face a tricky 11 overs before stumps. The visitors finished at 26-2, still trailing by 26 runs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal launched India’s innings with a rapid 72 off 51 balls, including 12 boundaries and two sixes. His explosive start helped India reach 100 in just 61 balls, breaking their previous record for the fastest Test innings start, set against the West Indies last year. Jaiswal added 55 off 24 balls for the first wicket with captain Rohit Sharma, who fell for 23 to Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the fourth over.
Jaiswal was eventually bowled by Hasan Mahmud, but Virat Kohli (47 off 35) and KL Rahul (68 off 43) kept the momentum going. Bangladesh spinners Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy took four wickets each, but India’s aggressive approach left them in control.
Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja completed his 300th Test wicket, dismissing Khaled Ahmed, as Bangladesh were bowled out for 233. Mominul Haque remained unbeaten on 107 for Bangladesh in their first innings.
India lead the series 1-0.
