India crush Bangladesh to seal T20 series with 86-run win
NEW DELHI: India claimed an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20 series after defeating Bangladesh by 86 runs in the second Twenty20 international in New Delhi on Wednesday. A century partnership between Nitish Reddy and Rinku Singh powered India to a commanding total of 221/6, before the Indian bowlers dismantled Bangladesh’s chase.
Bangladesh, chasing a daunting target of 222, faltered as India’s spinners picked up wickets regularly, with all seven bowlers contributing and Hardik Pandya taking three catches. Despite a resilient 41 from Mahmudullah, Bangladesh crumbled to 135 all out.
Earlier, Bangladesh’s pace attack had India in trouble at 41-3 after Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, and captain Suryakumar Yadav fell cheaply inside the powerplay. However, Reddy and Rinku led the recovery with a blistering 108-run partnership off just 49 balls. Reddy top-scored with 74 off 34 balls, smashing seven sixes, while Rinku provided crucial support. Their dominance included a destructive over against Mehidy Hasan Miraz, from which they took 26 runs.
