ICC confirms safe departure of South Africa, West Indies squads

DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that the final travelling members of both South Africa national cricket team and the West Indies cricket team have safely departed for their respective home countries following the conclusion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
Over the past 24 hours, South Africa’s remaining 29 travelling members and the final group of 16 from the West Indies boarded flights home, marking the completion of a complex travel operation conducted under difficult global travel conditions.
According to the ICC, its operations and logistics teams worked closely with governments, airlines, charter providers, airport authorities and member boards to coordinate the departures. The effort required continuous adjustments as evolving circumstances created operational disruptions during the travel process.
Ensuring the safe onward journey of all players and staff remained the ICC’s top priority throughout the operation.
The governing body also thanked Cricket South Africa and Cricket West Indies, along with their squads, for their cooperation during the process. The ICC further acknowledged the efforts of its staff who worked around the clock to ensure that players, team officials and their families could travel home safely.
