ICC bans Sri Lanka captain Hasaranga
DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Saturday, February 24, banned Sri Lanka captain Wanindu Hasaranga for two matches after he was found guilty of abusing the umpires during the third and final T20I against Afghanistan on Wednesday in Dambulla.
He was furious with the umpire for not giving a full-toss delivery a no-ball.
Hasaranga was handed 3 demerit points and a fine of 50 percent match fee for his angry reaction in the close game, in which Afghanistan won by 3 runs.
His overall demerit points reached five within 24 months following the latest incident of breaking the Code and Conduct of the apex body.
