Carty and King lead West Indies to series victory over England with centuries
BRIDGETOWN: In a thrilling display, Keacy Carty and Brandon King’s stunning centuries powered West Indies to a commanding eight-wicket victory over England in the third and final One-Day International in Barbados, securing a 2-1 series win. Chasing 264, West Indies reached the target with ease, thanks to Carty’s unbeaten 128 and King’s 102, forming a crucial 209-run second-wicket partnership that anchored the chase.
England, who batted first, initially struggled as early wickets left them at 24-4. Opener Phil Salt steadied the innings with a composed 74, while Jofra Archer provided late fireworks, finishing 38 not out, to push England to a respectable 263-8.
Archer, however, couldn’t replicate his success with the bat, as West Indies’ batsmen comfortably handled England’s bowling attack. Carty’s first international century and King’s third ODI ton marked a memorable performance for the hosts.
The two teams will meet again for the first of five T20 Internationals at Kensington Oval on Saturday, where England’s white-ball captain Jos Buttler is expected to make a return from injury.
