Australia set NZ imposing target of 369 for victory in 1st Test

WELLINGTON: Spinner Glenn Phillips took five for 45 as New Zealand dismissed Australia for 164 in their second innings before tea on the third day of the first test in Wellington on Saturday, handing the hosts an imposing target of 369 for victory.

New Zealand’s highest successful fourth-innings run chase was the 324 they scored against Pakistan at Christchurch in 1994. Their highest at Wellington’s Basin Reserve was the 285 they scored to beat Sri Lanka last year.
