Australia beat India to avoid clean sweep
RAJKOT: Despite half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, India were beaten by Australia in the third ODI by 66 runs on Wednesday.
Backed up by Glenn Maxwell’s frugal four-for on return helped Australia avoid a clean sweep.
Australia made five changes while India made six from the second ODI.
Batting first on what looked like a placid Rajkot surface, Mitchell Marsh, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith and David Warner all scored fifties to propel Australia to 352 for 7.
In reply, Rohit bashed a 57-ball 81 while Kohli scored a more sedate fifty, but the lower middle order failed to get going as India were bowled out for 286 in 49.4 overs.
Australia 352 for 7 (Marsh 96, Smith 74, Labuschagne 72, Bumrah 3-81, Kuldeep 2-48 ) beat India 286 (Rohit 81, Kohli 56, Maxwell 4-40, Hazlewood 2-42) by 66 runs
