Atkinson rested for England’s ODI series against Australia, Stone named as replacement
LONDON: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Monday that seamer Gus Atkinson will be rested for the upcoming One-Day International series against Australia, with Olly Stone stepping in as his replacement.
England is set to host Australia for a three-match Twenty20 series, followed by a five-match ODI series, beginning with the first ODI at Trent Bridge on September 19.
Atkinson recently played a crucial role in England’s 2-1 Test series victory over Sri Lanka, and the ECB’s decision to rest him is likely a move to manage his workload. Olly Stone, who has been brought in as a replacement, will now have the opportunity to make an impact against Australia in what promises to be a highly competitive series.
