Afghanistan clinch T20 series with win over Zimbabwe

HARARE: Afghanistan narrowly defeated Zimbabwe by three balls in the final T20 international on Saturday, securing a 2-1 series victory. Chasing Zimbabwe’s modest total of 127, Afghanistan reached 128-7, thanks to captain Mohammad Nabi’s composed unbeaten 24 at Harare Sports Club.

Winning the toss, Afghanistan opted to field, and Zimbabwe initially looked poised for a competitive total at 78-3 in the 11th over. However, Rashid Khan’s exceptional 4-27 spell dismantled the hosts, restricting them to 127 with just one ball remaining.

In response, Afghanistan’s chase saw contributions from Azmatullah Omarzai, who top-scored with 34 off 37 balls, and Nabi’s finishing flourish. Despite losing wickets regularly, the visitors held their nerve to seal the win.

The series now shifts to a three-match ODI contest in Harare, followed by two Tests in Bulawayo, promising more action between the two teams
