Abhishek Sharma’s explosive century seals series win for India

MUMBAI: Abhishek Sharma’s breathtaking century powered India to a commanding 150-run victory over England in the fifth and final T20I at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, sealing a 4-1 series triumph.
Opting to bat first, India raced to their highest powerplay total of 95, thanks to Abhishek’s ferocious stroke play. The left-hander smashed 135 off just 54 deliveries, registering the second-fastest century for India in T20Is. His innings featured 16 boundaries and propelled India to a daunting total of 248.
Despite Brydon Carse’s impressive spell, which saw him dismiss Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, and the struggling Suryakumar Yadav, England’s bowlers struggled to contain the relentless Indian attack.
Chasing 248, England started strongly with Phil Salt blasting 55 off 23 balls. However, the visitors faltered as Indian spinners struck early, reducing them to 68-4. Mohammed Shami led the bowling charge with three wickets, while Varun Chakaravarthy, Shivam Dube, and Abhishek Sharma each claimed two scalps.
England collapsed dramatically, getting bowled out for 97 in just 10.3 overs. The victory not only underscored India’s dominance but also showcased Abhishek Sharma’s rise as a formidable force in T20 cricket.
