Former Qatari boxer Hozam to attend AIBA coaching clinic

Doha: Qatar’s Asian Games bronze medallist Hozam Nabah, who has quit the sport early this year, is looking forward to start his career in coaching.

Hozam, who had won a bronze in light heavyweight category at the 2006 Doha Asiad, will be attending the Amateur International Boxing Association’s (AIBA) six-day coaching course in Khartoum, Sudan, in October.

The 36-year-old said he wants to focus on coaching and young boxers should get more opportunities.

“Age is definitely a factor. I’m not young anymore and boxing needs youngsters,” he told www.dohastadiumplus.com.

“I’ve enjoyed every bit of my career as a boxer in the last one decade. It’s always a proud feeling to represent Qatar. Coaching is a different ball game and I want to take up the challenge. I thank the Qatar Boxing Federation for everything,” added Hozam, who will be accompanied by his former Qatar team-mate Abdullateef Sadiq at the AIBA coaching clinic.
