Rayyan, Sadd fail to impress

Al Rayyan and Al Sadd put up disappointing performances at the 37th GCC Clubs Championship in Manama, Bahrain, last week. 

Rayyan, who failed to win any domestic title this season, lost to the UAE’s Al Shabab 81-105 in a Group A match while Sadd went down 47-72 to Bahrain’s Al Ahli and 70-96 to UAE’s Al Ahli in Group B. 

Rayyan, Qatar’s most successful side ever, could not match Shabab, who led 30-13 after the first quarter. There were some signs of improvement in the second which the 2015-16 Qatar League champions took 26-24, but they failed to maintain the momentum in the third (25-29) and fourth (17-22).
