Qatar’s 3×3 basketball team welcomed at Hamad International Airport

DOHA: Hangzhou Asian Games silver-winning Qatar national 3X3 basketball team arrived in Doha on Wednesday to a rousing welcome at the Hamad International Airport in Doha.

Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) Secretary-General Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari, officials from the federation, fans, families, and well-wishers were on hand to receive the team, which was led by National Teams Director Yaseen Ismail Musa.

The national 3×3 basketball team wrapped up their fine performance in Hangzhou with a silver medal, going down against Chinese Taipei 16-18 after a thrilling final at Deqing Geographic Information Park Basketball Court on Sunday.

The team comprising Hamad Mousa, Omar Saad, Mohammed Abbasher, and Ahmad Mohamad defeated Mongolia 21-13 in the semi-final earlier in the day.

Speaking about the team’s performance, QBF Secretary-General Al Kuwari noted that it was a big feeling, not just for the team but for the federation, that Qatar won silver.

“We are very happy with the team’s performance. This gives us a big advantage to work harder and do something bigger in the future. The next important thing for us is the Asia Cup 2025 qualifiers next February, our first window. The first matches will be away to Iran, followed by Kazakhstan in Doha. This is our next focus now, and we hope to perform well in the matches as well,” Al Kuwari added.
