Qatar U-16 basketball team looks to bounce back against Kuwait in Arab Championship
CAIRO: The Qatari national under-16 basketball team will face off against Kuwait today at the Cairo Stadium Indoor Halls Complex, aiming for redemption in the second round of the 22nd Arab U-16 Basketball Championship.
After suffering a heavy 90-58 defeat to Bahrain in the tournament opener, Qatar will be eager to secure its first win and stay in the hunt for a top-four finish. The team currently holds one point, while Bahrain leads with two.
The championship, which runs until August 17, follows a round-robin format featuring six teams: Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Tunisia, Algeria, and host nation Egypt. The top two teams after the group stage will progress to the final, while the third and fourth-placed sides will battle for third place.
Qatar’s upcoming fixtures include a match against Egypt on Tuesday, followed by games against Algeria and Tunisia on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
The Qatari delegation is led by Abdullah Sultan Al Jaber, a member of the Qatar Basketball Federation’s Board of Directors, along with Khalid Al Mughanni, Director of Youth National Teams.(QNA)
