Qatar host India as FIBA World Cup 2027 qualifying campaign resumes

DOHA, Feb 25 (Reuters) – Qatar national basketball team host India national basketball team on Friday at Lusail Multipurpose Hall as the second qualifying window for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 gets under way.

Qatar are second in Group D with three points, level with Lebanon national basketball team and one behind leaders Saudi Arabia national basketball team. India sit bottom on two points. Qatar will also face Saudi Arabia on Monday.

The Asian and Oceania qualifiers feature 16 teams split into four groups, with the top three in each advancing to a second round where they are drawn into two new groups.

Three teams from each second-round group will qualify for the 2027 World Cup, along with the best fourth-placed side, under the competition calendar approved by FIBA.The qualifiers are being played across six windows running through March 2027, as teams bid to secure their spots at the tournament, which Qatar will host.
