Qatar Basketball League: Al Rayyan to face Al Ahli, Al Arabi up against Al Sadd in playoff
DOHA: All eyes will be on Al Gharafa Indoor Hall tomorrow (Monday) when it hosts the highly anticipated playoff games that will determine the champion of the 2024-2025 Qatar Basketball League season.
Al Rayyan, Al Arabi, Al Sadd, and Al Ahli are set to engage in fierce competition, each vying for the coveted title in this decisive stage, which has already showcased outstanding performances from the league’s top contenders.
Following the conclusion of the league’s second half, Al Rayyan secured the top spot in the overall standings with 30 points, positioning themselves as strong favorites for the championship. Al Arabi, close behind with 28 points, are determined to defend their title.
Al Sadd, currently in third place with 27 points, are eager to reclaim their dominance in Qatari basketball, while fourth-place Al Ahli, with 26 points, are aiming to deliver a surprise performance.
The playoff action kicks off on Monday, March 17, 2025, with league leaders Al Rayyan taking on fourth-seeded Al Ahli at 8:30 PM. The second game of the first round will see second-place Al Arabi face off against third-place Al Sadd at 10:30 PM.
The competition will intensify on March 20, 2025, as basketball fans witness further matchups among the four contenders battling for a place in the final. These clashes will be crucial in determining which teams move closer to the title.
If a team fails to secure a victory in the first two rounds of the semi-finals, they will have one last chance in the third round, scheduled for March 22, 2025. The two victorious teams will advance to the final, set for April 2025, where the league champion will be crowned. Meanwhile, the losing teams will compete for third place.
