Kaufman-Renn lifts no. 10 Purdue past Indiana

INDIANA: Trey Kaufman-Renn delivered a pivotal hook shot with 11.9 seconds left, sealing No. 10 Purdue’s 81-76 victory over visiting Indiana in a thrilling Big Ten matchup on Friday night in West Lafayette, Indiana. Kaufman-Renn’s 23-point performance was key to the Boilermakers’ triumph.
Braden Smith contributed 24 points, seven assists, and a season-high six steals for Purdue (17-5, 9-2 Big Ten), which secured its ninth win in the last 10 games. Fletcher Loyer added 15 points, and Kaufman-Renn shot an impressive 10 of 13 from the field as Purdue continued its dominance over Indiana, winning for the 16th time in their last 20 meetings.
Mackenzie Mgbako led Indiana (14-8, 5-6) with 25 points, while Trey Galloway scored 15. Oumar Ballo contributed 14 points and eight rebounds, and Luke Goode tallied 13 points.
After Kaufman-Renn’s go-ahead basket, Indiana’s Myles Rice had his shot blocked by Gicarri Harris with under four seconds remaining. Loyer secured the rebound, drew a foul, and sank two clutch free throws to seal the victory.
