Hawks edge Lakers in OT thriller as Trae Young shines
The Atlanta Hawks secured their sixth consecutive win with a dramatic 134-132 overtime victory against the Los Angeles Lakers, despite a triple-double from LeBron James.
James, who delivered 39 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists, missed a potential game-winning three-pointer with 1.2 seconds left in overtime as the Lakers suffered their third straight loss.
In regulation, Young’s attempted game-winning three was blocked by Max Christie, sending the game into overtime tied at 119-119. However, Young redeemed himself, scoring a decisive three-pointer with 7.4 seconds left in overtime to seal the win for Atlanta.
Young led the Hawks with 31 points and a season-high 20 assists. De’Andre Hunter and Bogdan Bogdanovic provided critical support from the bench, combining for 46 points and hitting nine three-pointers.
Anthony Davis contributed 38 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists for the Lakers in a losing effort. Lakers coach JJ Redick remained optimistic despite the loss, saying, “I appreciate their effort, their intent, their energy. We did enough to win a basketball game tonight.”
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics edged the Milwaukee Bucks 111-105, with Jayson Tatum starring with 34 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. The Celtics remain second in the Eastern Conference with a 19-4 record, trailing only the 20-3 Cleveland Cavaliers.
