Cavs dominate Warriors to stay unbeaten; Celtics and Pistons earn tight wins

The Cleveland Cavaliers maintained their undefeated start to the NBA season with a dominant 136-117 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Friday. Darius Garland led Cleveland with 27 points, as the Cavs raced to a 41-point halftime lead, their largest in franchise history, while their 83 first-half points tied a team record. Cleveland improved to 10-0, halting the Warriors’ five-game win streak and handing them their first road loss of the season.

“I was worried about tonight,” Cavs coach Kenny Atkinson said. “They’re champions and were going to try to knock our block off.”

Six Cavs scored in double figures against the league’s second-ranked defense, while Jonathan Kuminga led the Warriors with 21 off the bench.

In Boston, Jayson Tatum scored 33 points to lead the Celtics past the Brooklyn Nets in a 108-104 overtime thriller. Meanwhile, in Detroit, Cade Cunningham sealed the Pistons’ 122-121 win over Atlanta with a go-ahead basket and game-saving block.

Elsewhere, the Phoenix Suns edged the Mavericks 114-113 behind a late free throw from Jusuf Nurkic, and the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 116-106 at home, thanks to 31 points from Anthony Davis.
