Brunson leads knicks to victory with double-double performance

NEW YORK: Jalen Brunson delivered a stellar performance on Wednesday night, posting his second double-double in three games to lead the New York Knicks to a 122-112 victory over the Denver Nuggets at Madison Square Garden.

Brunson finished with 30 points and 15 assists, becoming just the fourth player in franchise history to record at least 30 points and 15 assists in a game. He is the first Knick to achieve the feat since Nate Robinson’s 33-point, 15-assist effort in 2009. Brunson scored 15 points during a decisive third-quarter run that cemented the Knicks’ fifth consecutive win following a previous 3-6 slump.

Supporting Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds, while OG Anunoby netted 23 points. Josh Hart scored 15 points, with Mikal Bridges adding 13, and Miles McBride chipping in 12 off the bench.

Jamal Murray led the Nuggets with 33 points, but Denver struggled, suffering their third consecutive defeat — a season-worst streak. Nikola Jokic, who has tallied 21 triple-doubles this season, managed just 17 points, six rebounds, and six assists in limited minutes due to early foul trouble.

The victory continues New York’s upward momentum as they aim to solidify their position in the competitive Eastern Conference.(Reuters)
