Amir Cup Basketball: Al Wakrah to face Al Shamal, Al Rayyan up against Al Khor today
DOHA: The curtain will fall on the second group of the 2024-2025 Amir Cup Basketball Championship on today.
Two decisive games will conclude the group stage and determine the teams that will advance to the final rounds of the most prestigious tournament on the Qatari basketball calendar.
The two games will be held at the QBF Indoor Hall.
The first game will see Al Wakrah face Al Shamal at 5pm, followed by Al Rayyan, who leads the standings, against Al Khor at 7pm.
Rayyan enter the game at the top of Group B with 4 points, having achieved a perfect score in the previous two rounds.
Meanwhile, Al-Wakrah, Al-Shamal, and Al-Khor are competing fiercely to secure a place in the playoffs. Al-Wakrah and Al-Shamal each have 3 points, while Al-Khor have only 2 points.
This season’s Amir Cup is being held in two groups.
Group A includes Al Arabi, Al Sadd, Al Ahli, Al Gharafa and Qatar SC.
Group B includes Al Rayyan, Al Shamal, Al Wakrah and Al Khor.
The group stage games will be played in a single-round league format, with the top team from each group qualifying directly for the semifinals.
The second and third-place teams will compete in a knockout round to determine the remaining teams who will advance to the semi-finals.
The semifinals will be played in a best-of-three format, while the tournament will conclude with the final game, scheduled for Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Al Gharafa Club Hall.
