Qatar Basketball League: Al Rayyan faces Al Wakrah, Al Shamal meets Al Arabi
DOHA: The competitions of the eighth round of the General Basketball League for the 2025-2026 sports season will conclude on the evening of Saturday, December 13, 2025, with two decisive matches held at the Al Gharafa Hall.
The first match brings together Al Rayyan and their counterparts Al Wakrah at 6:00 PM, in a confrontation where Al Rayyan aims to add two valuable points to strengthen their position in the golden square, while Al Wakrah hopes to achieve a positive result that returns them to the circle of competition and compensates for their previous stumbles.
At 8:00 PM, Al Shamal meets Al Arabi in the round’s highlight match, where the leading Al Arabi seeks to maintain their top position and confirm their strong performances since the start of the season, while Al Shamal aspires to halt their rival’s progress and approach the leading positions, especially since they are directly behind them in terms of points.
Al Arabi tops the standings with 12 points from 6 matches, the same tally held by Al Sadd in second place after playing 7 matches.
Al Rayyan comes in third with 11 points from 6 matches, tied with Al Shamal in fourth place after participating in 7 matches.
Al Wakrah is fifth with 10 points from 6 matches, followed by Al Ahli in sixth with the same points but from 7 matches, then Al Gharafa in seventh with 9 points from 7 matches, followed by Al Khor in eighth with 8 points, and finally Qatar Club in ninth with 7 points.
The round witnesses the absence of Al Ahli Club, in accordance with the tournament system that allows each team a mandatory rest for one match during the season, giving the remaining clubs an important opportunity to strengthen their positions and exploit the balance of competition before the decisive stage in the upcoming rounds.
