Doha face Japan team in opener
DOHA will take on Japan’s Hamamatsu in their first match at the one-day FIBA 3×3 All Stars at the Al Gharafa Indoor Hall on Friday.
Novi Sad Al Wahda had defeated Saskatoon 21-14 in the final in Doha last year.
Alen Hadzibegovic, Ngombo Tanguy, Saad Abdulrahman and Erfan Ali Saeed will lead Doha’s challenge in the season-ending 3×3 knockout event that rewards top players from all around the world with FIBA individual world rankings.
Holders Novi Sad Al Wahda of the UAE, Slovenia’s Ljubljana, USA’s New York Harlem NBA, Canada’s McGill University as well as Saskatoon and the Philippines’ Manila are the other sides.
The eight teams will play in a knockout format. The FIBA 3×3 individual players’ world rankings were used to determine the teams’ seedings.
