Saudi Arabia and Jordan exit FIBA Asia Cup after quarterfinal playoff losses

JEDDAH: Host nation Saudi Arabia and regional rivals Jordan were both eliminated from the FIBA Asia Cup following quarterfinal playoff defeats in Jeddah on Monday.

Saudi Arabia fell to the Philippines in a tightly fought encounter, narrowly losing 88-95. Despite a spirited performance and home support, the Saudis were unable to close the gap in the final quarter.

Meanwhile, Jordan struggled against Chinese Taipei, succumbing to a 64-78 defeat in a game where they trailed for most of the contest.

With these results, the Philippines move on to face Group A leaders Australia, while Chinese Taipei will take on Group B leaders Iran in the quarterfinals.
