Visit Qatar and Samla Race launch first international edition of Qatar’s toughest endurance challenge

DOHA: Visit Qatar has partnered with the Samla Race to unveil the first-ever international edition of Qatar’s premier endurance race, set to take place on January 24, 2026. For the first time, male and female athletes from around the globe are invited to compete in one of the country’s most grueling physical contests.

Katara Hospitality joins as the official hospitality partner, ensuring a world-class experience that reflects the richness of Qatari hospitality. Since its debut in 2017, the Samla Race has become a major fixture in Qatar’s sporting calendar, known for pushing participants to their physical and mental limits.

Engineer Abdulaziz Ali Al-Mawlawi, CEO of Visit Qatar, emphasized the strategic significance of the race: “The launch of the international edition marks a major milestone in elevating Qatar’s global standing in sports tourism and reflects the innovation embedded in our sporting culture.”

The Samla International Race features a four-part endurance challenge: a 3km swim, 49km run, 44km mountain biking segment, and a final 4km kayaking course — each stage designed to push the boundaries of stamina and skill.

Azzam Al-Mannai, CEO of the Samla Organising Committee, noted, “We are proud to open this unique experience to elite athletes from around the world. The race fosters not only competition but also cultural exchange and camaraderie.”
