
Thrilling action in third round of Al Shaqab International League qualifier
DOHA: The third round of the Al Shaqab International League, a qualifier for the prestigious FEI Group 7 Championship, delivered an exciting day of showjumping at the Longines Indoor Arena with impressive performances across multiple categories.
In the Future Champions class (105cm), Khaled Nasser al-Khater dominated the field, securing first place on Bakarat D’Azur with a swift time of 32.44 seconds. Youssef Abdulrahman al-Muftah, riding Croat Van Orkids, and Fawaz al-Hokair on Cole Cassina completed the podium.
Ibrahim Yousef al-Mahmoud shone in the Al Shaqab Champion Knights Tour (135cm), claiming the top spot aboard Cattleea Plassay with a strong 63.14-second finish. Mohammed Salem al-Marri and Saad Ahmed al-Saad followed in second and third, respectively.
The Junior Champions event (115cm) saw Suhaim Hamad al-Yafei take gold on Jamen Ray in 33.62 seconds, ahead of Ibrahim Khaled al-Kuwari and Ahmed Ali al-Jaber. Meanwhile, Mohammed Hassan al-Hadi won the Open Round (115cm) with a lightning-fast time of 24.81 seconds on Capon, followed by Fahad bin Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani and Saad al-Qahtani.
In the Youth Champions category (125cm), Issa Omran al-Owais delivered a standout performance on Miss Cooper to secure first place. Yaqoub Nasser al-Mas and Saif Mohammed al-Nuaimi finished just behind in a closely contested event.
The league continues to highlight rising equestrian talent, setting the stage for a thrilling path to the FEI Group 7 Championship.(Gulf times)
