DOHA: The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Qatar’s Seashore Group to collaborate on sustainability initiatives aimed at improving environmental practices in workplaces and at future mega-events, the organisations said on Thursday.
The agreement builds on the SC’s sustainability framework and will see the two organisations work together on waste management, composting solutions and environmental awareness campaigns designed to encourage greener workplace practices.
Under the partnership, the SC will also leverage Seashore Group’s expertise in environmental technologies, including its Seashore Tadweer AI application, while conducting site visits to explore more efficient sustainability practices.
The collaboration will extend to future major sporting and public events hosted in Qatar, with both organisations planning initiatives focused on responsible waste disposal and promoting environmental awareness among spectators and the wider community.
The memorandum was signed at the SC headquarters in Doha by SC Sustainability & Legacy Executive Director Thani Al Zarraa and Seashore Group Vice Chairman Sager Saeed Al Muhanadi.
“Sustainability has been at the heart of all major events we continue to host,” Al Zarraa said, adding that the partnership supports the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 and would help strengthen the country’s long-term sustainability legacy.
Al Muhanadi said Seashore Group looked forward to contributing its expertise to support the delivery of environmentally responsible events, describing sustainability as a core part of the company’s operations.
The SC said its sustainability strategy covers every stage of event delivery, from infrastructure design to operational execution, while using major tournaments as a platform to promote environmental awareness and responsible resource management.
Qatar has continued to build on the sustainability legacy of the 2022 FIFA World Cup by integrating environmental measures into subsequent international sporting events, including initiatives aimed at improving energy efficiency, reducing waste and encouraging responsible use of resources.
Founded in 1989, Seashore Group is one of Qatar’s largest diversified business groups and has been involved in a range of corporate social responsibility programmes supporting sustainable development in the country.
