DOHA: Doha Bank Stars League clubs have stepped up their recruitment of foreign players during the summer transfer window as they prepare for the 2026-27 season, with Al Shamal among the busiest sides.
Al Shamal are seeking to build on their best-ever league finish after they ended last season as runners-up behind champions Al Sadd, securing a place in the AFC Champions League for the first time.
The club signed Moroccan midfielder Mohamed Rabie Harimat from Royal Army Club. Harimat was named the best player at the 2025 Arab Cup in Qatar after helping Morocco win the tournament.
Al Shamal also recruited Uruguayan defender Federico Paes from Nacional, Guinean midfielder Ibrahima Coulibaly from Al Khor and French forward Wesley Said from Lens.
Al Rayyan strengthened their foreign contingent with Portuguese defender Diogo Amaro from Al Sailiya and Malian midfielder Daouda Diakite from Al Shahaniya.
Qatar SC signed Brazilian winger Bruno Tabata from Internacional after adding Spanish midfielder Albert Luque from Al Muaither.
Newly promoted Lusail have also been active, bringing in Iranian defender Ali Nemati from Foolad, Spanish forward Rodrigo Moreno from Al Rayyan, Iranian midfielder Omid Ebrahimi from Al Shamal and Argentine defender Franco Russo from Qatar SC.
Al Arabi signed Moroccan midfielder Oussama Tannane from Umm Salal and Tunisian forward Youssef Sanana on loan from Al Shamal.
Al Ahli added French midfielder Benjamin Borrego from Al Duhail, Colombian winger Youssef Lens on loan from Millonarios and Dutch winger Don O’Neill from Ajax.
