Xavi attributes his first trophy at Sadd to teamwork

Titles are not new to Xavi Hernandez, yet the joy of winning a first trophy in a totally different region seemed to make the Spaniard happy.

Xavi joined Sadd from Barcelona in the season before last after winning 25 titles during a 17-year spell. The management wanted him to help the club regain the Qatar Stars League title, which he twice failed to achieve. The World Cup and two-time European Championship winner, however, was instrumental in their Qatar Cup victory and attributed the triumph to hard work.

“Our efforts didn’t go waste. We managed to win the Qatar Cup, thanks to the hard work from all our players, who deserve praise.

“We made our intentions clear right from the start and showed a lot of desire and commitment. I’m proud of winning my first title in Qatar. I hope our players extend their good work into the Emir’s Cup and win it as well,” said Xavi.
