‘We can’t afford to relax’
AL SHAHANIYA Football Head Mohammed Al Shammari is confident of his team’s stay in the top flight. Against Al Wakrah last week, the Oryxes twice let slip the advantage to settle for a 2-2 draw, their 11th this season.
“We’ll have to work hard against Al Kharaitiyat in the next game as our aim is to win full points,” Al Shammari told www.qsl.com.qa.
“We can’t afford to relax as there’re only five rounds remaining. It has been very difficult for us as we’ve 11 draws this season. The tie is almost the same as a loss because we take home only one point, but lose two,” said Al Shammari.
Shahaniya will be boosted by the return of centre-backs Muhannad Adnan and Alvaro Perez, who had missed the Wakrah game due to suspension.
Al Shammari said they must stay focused throughout the 90 minutes.
“We’ve to be in full concentration. If you notice the Wakrah game, we had twice let taken the lead. We must learn from our mistakes and not repeat it.”
“We do have a chance to stay in the top flight. Despite the fact that we’re 12th, we’re only two wins away from safety. We’ll fight in all our remaining games hoping to achieve what we look for.
“The final rounds will be very tough, but our players will put in their best efforts to beat the drop,” he added.
