Umm Salal hold Al Ahli; Gharafa beat Arabi

DOHA: Umm Salal came from behind to hold Al Ahli 1-1 in an entertaining seventh-round match of the Qatar Stars League at the Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium on Saturday.

Ivorian forward Kissito Yessoh gave Ahli a dream lead 47 seconds into the match. Ahli had the edge in the first half and they could have virtually killed the game close to the hour mark when Meshaal Abdullah won a penalty.

But the Qatar international forward failed to beat goalkeeper Baba Malik.

Umm Salal came alive from then onwards and Thaer Bawab found the equaliser in the 68th when he slotted home following Yannick Sagbo's fine assist.

Meanwhile, struggling Al Arabi raised hopes of a rejuvenation with their first-half performance, but eventually went down 2-4 to Al Gharafa.

Captain Boualem Khoukhi, deployed up front by new coach Edison Aguirre, scored a stunning goal in the 13th to put Arabi in front. Vladimir Weiss equalised in the 20th by converting from the spot after Johnson Kendrik was brought down by Paulinho.

Captain Anas Mubarak gave Gharafa the lead in the 28th while Khoukhi slid home his second goal to make it 2-2 soon after the half-hour mark.

Defender George Kossi (69th) and Hungary forward Krisztian Nemeth (74th) found the target to pile more pressure on Arabi.
