QATAR Stars League (QSL) side Al Wakrah sacked coach Kais Yaakoubi on Tuesday.
Wakrah, who had won the league shield in 2001, were relegated to second tier Qatargas League.
They lost to Al Sailiya last week to finish the 14-team tournament at the bottom with just two wins, nine draws and 15 defeats.
Wakrah were always mired in the battle to avoid relegation this season.
The club management had replaced Uruguayan Jose Mauricio with Yaakoubi halfway through the season and also brought in a few players in January, but they failed to stay in the top flight.
Meanwhile, Al Ahli, who finished 10th in the QSL, decided to part ways with coach Yousuf Adam.
Ahli had an unimpressive season and could manage only 27 points.
Ahli were in impressive form in the last two seasons, finishing sixth in 2015-16 and fifth in 2014-15.
They even endured a humiliating 0-4 defeat to relegated team Muaither in the last round.
