Ronaldo breaks Saudi Pro League goal record in spectacular fashion

RIYADH: Cristiano Ronaldo, the legendary Portuguese forward, capped his first full season in the Saudi Pro League by breaking the record for the most goals scored in a single campaign. On Monday, Ronaldo netted twice in Al Nasr’s 4-2 victory over Al Ittihad, bringing his season tally to an impressive 35 goals.

This remarkable achievement surpasses the previous record held by former Al Nasr striker Abderrazak Hamdallah, who scored 34 goals in the 2018-19 season. Ronaldo’s record-breaking performance came on the final matchday, ensuring a thrilling conclusion to his debut season in Saudi Arabia.

The 39-year-old Ronaldo joined Al Nasr in January 2023, following a storied career at top European clubs including Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus. His arrival in the Saudi Pro League has been a significant boost for both Al Nasr and the league’s profile globally.
