Record $36.5 million prize fund announced for 2025 FIFA Arab Cup in Qatar

DOHA: The 2025 FIFA Arab Cup is set to make history with a record-breaking prize fund exceeding $36.5 million, Qatar’s Local Organising Committee (LOC) announced on Thursday. Scheduled to take place from December 1 to 18, the tournament will feature senior men’s national teams from the 22-member Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA), encompassing both Asian and African nations.

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth and Chairman of the LOC, hailed the announcement as a milestone. “This announcement further elevates the stature of the FIFA Arab Cup, a tournament we reinstated in 2021, and reflects Qatar’s leading role in developing football across the region and beyond,” he said.

FIFA, which assumed control of the event from UAFA during its 2021 revival, had previously set the prize fund at $25.5 million. The significant increase this year signals growing investment and interest in the regional showcase.

The official draw for the tournament will take place in Doha on Sunday, with defending champions Algeria expected to be among the top contenders once again.
