Qatar Stars League’s low-key start is a worry for Fossati
The Qatar Stars League’s low-key start should be a worry for Jorge Fossati as almost all Qatar internationals are based in Doha. The Uruguayan said the players’ lack of fitness had affected the league’s overall level.
“Sometimes you want to do the best for both clubs and national team, but finally you end up helping neither. I think there was some confusion regarding the league’s starting dates this season and that affected the pre-season preparations of all clubs,” said Fossati.
“Of course, I’ve full respect for all clubs. We’re trying to help them, thinking about improving the players’ fitness. Once or twice a week, our fitness coaches and Qatar Football Association’s Performance Director Walter Di Salvo are meeting with their counterparts from clubs. I think we can improve things,” added Fossati.
