Qatar must win against Iran, says Al Shahaniya’s assistant coach Peris

DOHA: Qatar will face Iran tomorrow in what would be a crucial World Cup qualifier match for the reigning Asian champions.

The match will be held in a neutral venue in UAE.

Qatar needed a win to stay in contention for the race to qualify from Group A.

Iran and Uzbekistan have seven points each while Qatar has four points.

“I think it’s an important match for Qatar. They must win tomorrow,” said Al Shahaniya’s assistant coach Jorge Peris.

“Qatar’s previous match against Kyrgyzstan was good. If they maintain the same tempo, Iran will have difficulties,” added the Spaniard.

“Playing in neutral venue may not help Qatar that much as Iran would also have their supporters in the UAE.”
