Qatar lose to Nigeria in U-20 World Cup
Tychy, Poland: Qatar started their campaign at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Poland 2019 with 0-4 defeat to Nigeria in Group D on Friday.
The Flying Eagles, runners-up to a Joao Pinto-propelled Portugal in 1989 and a Lionel Messi-inspired Argentina in 2005, were 2-0 up inside 25 minutes, thanks to goals from Maxwell Effiom and Okechukwa Offia.
Though Qatar tried to come back from the early setback they missed a couple of chances while Nigeria scored again through Tom Dele-Bashiru and Aliu Salawudeen.
Qatar next take on Ukraine on May 27.
In another match, New Zealand produced the nation's biggest win in their U-20 World Cup history with a 5-0 rout of Honduras to open Group C play.
