Qatar Cup to be held in January

Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Stars League will organise the Qatar Cup 2020 in January with the participation of top four clubs from the 2018-19 season. QSL champions Al Sadd, runners up Al Duhail, third-placed Al Sailiya and fourth-placed Al Rayyan will compete in the tournament.

The decision was made after considering the busy schedule of the national team and that of the clubs who will also feature in the 2020 AFC Champions League.

The January date was finalised to give the tournament more space in terms of marketing and promotion and to ensure coverage from the media in a distinctive manner. The format of the tournament remains the same with the four sides playing in the semifinal and two winners meeting in the final.
