Pochettino urges patience after USMNT’s Concacaf Nations League disappointment

CALIFORNIA: The United States suffered a 2-1 defeat to Canada in the Concacaf Nations League third-place match on Sunday, marking their second consecutive loss after a shock 1-0 semifinal defeat to Panama. However, manager Mauricio Pochettino remains optimistic, emphasizing that the team has enough time to improve before the 2026 World Cup on home soil.
Pochettino, who took charge of the USMNT after leaving Chelsea in May, acknowledged the disappointment but urged fans to remain positive. “It’s better (to lose) now because I think we have time,” he said. “If we were in this situation in a year, then for sure, I would say, ‘Houston, we have a problem.’”
Despite the setbacks, Pochettino expressed confidence in his squad. “We have good players. We are going to find a way to perform, and for sure, we are going to compete in a different way,” he added.
The USMNT will look to regroup in June when they face Turkey and Switzerland in friendly matches as part of their preparations for the World Cup.
