Players to wear shirt with ‘Barcelona’ in place of their names

Doha: Barcelona will wear a special shirt with ‘Barcelona’ on the back, where their names are usually displayed, in their La Liga opener against Real Betis on Sunday, the club said in a statement on their website.

The club want to pay homage to all the victims of the recent terror attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils and they received special authorisation from the RFEF, and La Liga also gave permission to display the hashtag #TotsSomBarcelona on the chest of the shirt.

There will also be a minute’s silence before kick-off to commemorate all the victims and offer support to their friends and relatives, and all the citizens and visitors to the city.
