Lekhwiya hold Rayyan, extend unbeaten run

DOHA: Lekhwiya held champions Al Rayyan 1-1 in their 20th-round clash of the Qatar Stars League to continue their unbeaten run and move closer to regaining the title.

Youssef El Arabi, who was mostly kept at bay by the Rayyan defence, put Lekhwiya ahead in the 77th while Sergio Garcia equalised in the 83rd to take home a point they thoroughly deserved.

Al Sadd can cut the Cops' lead on top to three points if they beat Al Wakrah on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Iraqi striker Ahmed Yasin struck a second-half brace (69th and 74th) as Muaither came from two goals down to hold Al Khor 2-2.

Mouhcine Iajour had put Khor ahead in the 41st while Babou Sidiqi made it 2-0 in the 53rd.

Elsewhere, Umm Salal and Al Ahli played out a 1-1 draw.

Yannick Sagbo put Umm Salal ahead in the 52nd minute. But their joy was shortlived as Ali Fereydoun equalised three minutes later.
