Lebanon meet India in ACFT final
Doha: Lebanon will meet India in the Sixth Asian Communities Football Tournament (ACFT) final at Al Arabi Stadium on Friday.
The kick-off is at 7pm.
India had defeated defending champions Jordan 1-0 while Lebanon thrashed Nepal 3-1 in the semifinals.
The best players of the semifinals were India’s Mufeer Ali and Lebanon’s Husain Mansour.
Jordan has automatically secured the third place after Nepal withdrew from the third-place decider match last week, which granted Jordan three points for a win.
The final between Lebanon and India is expected to see huge community attendance as both have a strong fan base.
The winner will receive a cash prize of QR 15,000 while the second and third-placed teams will get QR 10,000 and 5000 respectively.
The top scorer will receive a cash award of QR 5000 and a trophy.
Other special prizes include best player, coach, and goalkeeper awards.
This year, a trophy will also be given to the best community fan base for the first time.
Last year, Jordan had defeated Lebanon 1-0 in the final.
The ACFT is a community tournament which brings together various Asian communities residing in Qatar, and encourages them to play more football in a fun competitive environment.
The ACFT falls under QFA’s Sub-Leagues Committee which oversees the organising of QFA’s tournaments that target the different segments of the community. Other tournaments organised by the QFA Sub-Leagues Committee include the School League, University League, and Qatar Amateur League.
