Iran’s Persepolis to train at Aspire ahead of Al Sadd clash

Doha: Iran’s Persepolis, who are in Doha for their AFC Champions League Group C encounter against Al Sadd on Tuesday, will start their training at Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) on Saturday evening.

Persepolis will hold training sessions on AZF’s outdoor pitches on Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 6 pm and will stay in Doha until Wednesday the 21st, before heading back to Tehran.

Both sides are off a strong start in the group, but the Iranians are ahead on goal difference.

While Persepolis defeated Uzbekistan’s Nasaf 3-0, Sadd came back strongly to beat the UAE’s Al Wasl 2-1.

Commenting on hosting Persepolis’s training camp, Ibrahim Hilal, Head of Events and National Teams at AZF, said: “Aspire Zone Foundation is committed to supporting a wide range of major sporting events that take place in Qatar and hosting visiting AFC Champions League. Aspire Zone Foundation provides world-class training facilities that are just a short distance from the 5-star accommodation provided to teams, helping to make it one of the most popular destinations worldwide for international clubs and teams competing in a wide range of sports and disciplines. This saves visiting teams time and effort and allows them to focus entirely on their training objectives.”

AZF and its affiliated organisations are perfectly placed to provide an integrated set of world-class sporting and medical services available to players all in one place. These are a key contributor to AZF’s goal of becoming the reference in sports excellence worldwide by 2020.
