I want to share the experience with my team-mates, says Belhadj

Doha: Former Algerian international Nadir Belhadj, who will be turning out for Al Sailiya this season, wants to guide his new club in the QNB Stars League (QSL) with his vast experience.

“I’ve played six seasons at Al Sadd and won several major titles. I want to share the experience with my team-mates, and hope to boost the club’s chances in the tournament,” Belhadj said on the QSL website.

The Algerian, who won the Qatar Football Association’s Player of the Year Award in 2014, had played in the English Premier League with Portsmouth in 2008-09 and represented his country at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Sailiya coach Sami Trabelsi, an admirer of Belhadj’s skills and work ethic, had expressed his interest in him as he thought the 34-year-old still possessed the desired fitness level to guide the team.

“We had our pre-season camp Tunisia. The preparation was excellent. There’s a great enthusiasm among the players. We’re looking forward to start the season on a positive note,” added Belhadj, who is a left-back, can also play as left winger and defensive midfielder.

“We’ve an ambition to finish in the top-four. Sailiya is a strong team and had always challenged the top sides,” said Belhadj, who won the 2012-13 league and 2011 AFC Champions League titles with Sadd.
