Hoping to become a prolific scorer
A YEAR has passed since Ahmed Alaaeldin won the top-scorer award and helped Qatar to a fourth-place finish at the Asian Under-23 Championship in Doha.
The forward has got enough opportunities with his club Al Rayyan since then, first under Jorge Fossati and then his successor Michael Laudrup this season, but he has not been able to repeat his prolific scoring act.
The 24-year-old, who has incredible strength and speed believes it is only a matter of time before he finds his touch.
Is there anything that stops you from scoring consistently for Rayyan?
I’m working hard during training sessions and also games. I want to score in every game, but more important is that I contribute to the team’s success. Coach Laudrup has been helping me with the right advice and I hope to become a prolific scorer soon.
You’ve brother Mohammed as a team-mate at Rayyan. What sort of a feeling is it?
It’s something special. We analyse each other’s games and push each other. He plays as a defender so there’s no direct fight between us for a berth in the team.
