Hatem double helps Al Rayyan beat Al Ahli in thriller
Doha, Qatar: Abdelaziz Hatem scored a late double as Al Rayyan struck thrice in the dying minutes to beat Al Ahli 3-1 in the Qatar Stars League on Saturday.
In the match played at Al Gharafa Stadium Rayyan were down by a goal scored by Abdulrasheed Ibrahim in the 58th minute and staring at defeat when Hatem made a run from the deep to collect a cross before beating the goalkeeper with an angular left-footer in the 88th minute.
Five minutes later Hatem put Rayyan ahead with another measured right-footer from outside the box while Yacine Brahimi sealed the victory in the 95th minute with another superb finish.
The win helped Rayyan move to nine points while Ahli stayed on six.
Meanwhile, Almoez Ali dazzled with his footwork before laying off the ball in a platter for Karim Boudiaf as Duhail defeated Al Shahania 1-0.
The win helped Duhail move to 10 points but the Amir Cup champions have not found their rhythm which would be worrying for coach Rui Faria.
Shahania are winless and pointless after five matches.
In another match, Al Sailiya defeated Al Gharafa 3-1 thanks to goals from Karin Ansari, Mbark Bousouffa and Mahir Yusuf while Qatar SC defeated Al Khor for their first win of the campaign.
