Duhail’s new signing Bassam confident of doing well
Doha: Young Qatari defender Bassam Al Rawi expressed confidence that he could do well with his new team Al Duhail Sports Club.
Bassam, a stylish defender, has played for Qatar in the Under-20 World Cup in 2015, the 2016 AFC U-23 Championship in Doha where Qatar finished fourth, and the AFC U-23 qualifiers recently. The 19-year-old already has a wealth of experience playing at the top level and the stint with the champion club of Qatar will surely do his confidence a world of good.
“Since my arrival at the camp, I can feel that the atmosphere is ideal. There is plenty of excitement and seriousness. I hope we can do well in the Qatar Stars League as well as the AFC Champions League,” Bassam, who joined from Al Rayyan, told Duhail website at the club’s Austrian training camp.
Bassam said he was happy to embark on a new experience in his career, and expressed hope that he would be able to win the confidence of the technical staff, despite the team boasting a large number of star names.
Bassam, who was loaned out to Celta Vigo juniors last season, has also played for KAS Eupen reserves, and if he can win the confidence of coach Djamel Belmadi, it could well be the turning point in the youngster's career.
