Duhail keen to continue winning run
Doha: Al Duhail SC coach Djamel Belmadi would be looking to get the job done on Tuesday when his high-flying team host Al Ain in the second leg of the AFC Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday.
Duhail won the first leg in Al Ain 4-2 and just need to avoid defeat by a three-goal margin. Al Ain can progress with a two-goal margin if they score five or more. But given the form of Duhail, both those outcomes look highly unlikely.
Belmadi’s men, yet to lose a match this season, have been the most inform team in the whole region this season. They have won all their matches in the Champions League so far and look all set to continue the trend.
“We will go into the game with the aim of winning the match. We won the first leg comfortably but that doesn’t guarantee us a place in the quarterfinals. We have to do well at home tomorrow as well,” said Belmadi.
“We know we haven’t qualified to the next round yet. Al Ain will be looking to make it difficult for us and would want to avenge their defeat in the first leg. We know Ain are strong and organised, but we are ready for them.”
“We have to be organised in tomorrow’s game, we have to be more focused, and have the desire to qualify. We need to forget our victory in the first leg and play the game without any calculations,” he said.
