Brahimi double takes Al Rayyan back to the top

Doha, Qatar: Yacine Brahimi continued with his goal-scoring touch with a double as Al Rayyan defeated Al Sailiya 2-0 to regain top spot in the Qatar Stars League on Thursday.

At the Al Ahli Stadium, Brahimi scored in the seventh minute and late in added time as Rayyan moved to 21 points from nine games.

Al Duhail, who take on Al Sadd on Saturday, are second on 20 while the Wolves are on 15 from six matches. 

Both teams present Rayyan a stiff challenge in the title clash, but on Thursday it was all about the Lions and Brahimi.

The Algerian scored his first goal after latching on to a through pass by Khaled Muftah and evading the tackle of Mostafa Abdelhamid. He scored for a second time off a deflection off a rival player.

Earlier, Qatar SC edged Al Shahania 1-0 thanks to Sardar Rashidov's goal in the first half added time.
